Sàssari is a city in Sardinia. It is the second-largest city of Sardinia in terms of population with about 130,000 inhabitants, or about 300,000 including the greater metropolitan area. Being one of the oldest cities on the island, it contains a considerable collection of art.
As Sardinia’s second most important city after Cagliari, and the fifth largest municipality in Italy (area 546 km²), it has a considerable amount of cultural, touristic, commercial and political importance in the island.
